SAFPA

From the president's desk

Fourth Quarter 2005 SAFPA

It is indeed an honour to have been elected SAFPA president for the next year. Thank you. Our council has not changed, members are the same as last year, thus guaranteeing continuation of our current projects like the salary survey, standard generating group (SGG), and the market survey. (See 'Progress on fluid power qualification.

At our last Council Meeting we discussed the possibility for members of centres other than Jhb getting actively involved in our association. It was decided to co-opt a member from an area other then Jhb, to our council. We understand that these members would not be able to attend our council meetings on a regular basis, but they would nevertheless be informed about activities, and receive copies of the minutes. With our modern communication highway staying in touch should not be a problem. It is my pleasure to announce our first new Council Member, Graeme Lovesay, from Cape Town. Graeme needs no introduction, at least not in CT. He is well liked and respected in the industry in and around CT. We ask all SAFPA members in that part of the country to support Graeme in his effort to form a SAFPA group in CT.

We would appreciate feedback from you our members, regarding this new venture and the possibility of doing likewise in other centres. As indicated at the annual dinner, we want to put some effort in to marketing our SAFPA logo. For that we need the help of all our members. Please make use of the logo on your letterheads, business cards, websites etc, and tell your customers and clients about SAFPA and what it stands for: integrity, quality, know-how and service.

Lastly, we would like to hear from you, our members, and readers of MC magazine. E-mail us, speak to our council members or make use of the magazine, put forward your views, questions and suggestions as well as complaints, if any. As this is the last Motion Control issue for the year, we, the SAFPA council wish you all a peaceful festive season and a happy 2006.
