At a recent SAFPA technical evening Marcus Gericke, head of electric automation at Festo South Africa, gave a very informative presentation on pneumatic vs electric automation. He covered the strengths and weaknesses of each technology, and the relative benefits to be considered when weighing up costs and technical advantages in order to improve efficiency and save money in the long run.
