As part of an ongoing programme to stay abreast of trends among its peers in international hydraulics and pneumatics associations, SAFPA has embarked on a marketing initiative to establish the needs of stakeholders, market the organisation to end users and grow membership. The services of Manny Vieira have been retained in a marketing function for this project. Manny has been in the fluid power industry for more than 35 years and has been a SAFPA council member for the past 20 years.
An important part of the project will be to visit corporate SAFPA members and establish through a qualitative questionnaire their opinions and expectations of the association. Any new ideas or needs identified will be presented to SAFPA, with new directions or services being proposed if appropriate. Manny will also visit users of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including mining houses, project houses, OEMs and major end users, and promote the benefits of conducting business with SAFPA members. Part of this exercise will be to emphasise the benefits of the hose accreditation scheme as well as the importance of the hose safety training course. The SAFPA market survey, which indicates the size of the industry by product segment, will also be promoted.
