The ultimate swage machine

2nd Quarter 2012 News & events

Genflex Hydraulics has just taken delivery of the largest and most powerful hydraulic hose swage machine that has ever been manufactured in South Africa.

This machine has a die pressure of over 500 tons, and can swage up to 11,5 cm (4½ inch) 6 spiral, high-pressure, hydraulic hoses.

There are not too many applications where such a large swage machine has been utilised in South Africa, but Genflex has noticed that opportunities are growing in the shipping, mining and offshore drilling sectors. “Genflex is in a position to offer very large bore hoses both for suction and delivery as well as for extremely high pressures which we have not had the facilities for in the past,” says director, David Michelle.

“Many years ago Philip Mirrick worked for me at one of my earlier companies, before establishing his own company specialising in swage machinery. I gave his company, Enterprise 2000, their first order for 10 P20 swage machines, and now some 20 years later, Enterprise 2000 is the largest manufacturer of swage machines throughout Africa, and still growing,” he added.

This new swage machine has resulted in a 75% cost saving over the overseas equivalent. It is manufactured wholly in South Africa and all spares are available ex stock.
