For the second year running, Festo South Africa arranged a tour for customers and interested parties to visit the Hannover + Interkama Industrial Show, a world-leading technology highlight of the year, held in Germany. The eight trade shows staged under the Hannover Messe umbrella each focused on a particular link in the industrial chain, thus covering the entire range of process and production automation.
After two full days at the show with its 5040 exhibitors and its expert technology seminars, the participants travelled by bus to the historic town of Koblenz. They also enjoyed a scenic boat trip down the Rhein and were treated to a fun evening - go-kart racing at the Kart Palast.

The tour also incorporated visits to Festo Rohrbach, an award winning production plant, the Daimler Chrysler Truck manufacturing plant, which produces 400 complete trucks in 24 hours and Schuler Press Manufacturers, gaining a view of the latest manufacturing technologies complete with German precision.

"This year's tour was great, two days at the show provided plenty of information and proved, once again, very worthwhile," said Greg Kessler. "The Tour was very well co-ordinated, the highlight was definitely the Festo Headquarters - Technology Centre," added Russell Schwulst, Branch Manager. Stephan van Wyk, from the SABS, commented, "The Tour was very interesting and educational. I would definitely do it again. It was good to see the bigger picture of the different industries together, something we do not see much of in South Africa."
