Engineering and Hydraulic Services

Fourth Quarter 2005 News & events

Engineering and Hydraulic Services (EHS), situated in the North West Province town of Brits, has been trading in the hydraulics and pneumatics business since 1981. In the 24 years that the company has been servicing the local area, it has built up a well respected name under the ownership of Uli Gerth. In this time Uli has accumulated an extensive amount of knowledge and experience in the field of hydraulics, pneumatics and general mechanical engineering and is well respected by all his customers in the Brits area.

Recently, Uli has been joined by Russell Gill, a graduate mechanical engineer, who has 20 years experience, working in the hydraulics industry, 16 years of which were spent at Hyflo Johannesburg branch. Russell was the branch manager of Hyflo Johannesburg for 10 years and also spent a 6-year term as president of the South African Fluid Power Association.

With the guidance of Uli and Russell, EHS intends to grow its hydraulic and engineering capabilities to service better their existing customers, as well as increase its market share in the North West automotive cluster and Pretoria North regions. The new structure of EHS ensures that the company is now capable of competing with the best in terms of troubleshooting, solution providing, innovation and design capability and manufacturing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and associated equipment. The additional technical depth and solutions capability also ensures that EHS is able to differentiate itself from other companies in the same geographical area.

EHS specialises in the field of fluid power engineering with emphasis on the following:

* Manufacture of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.

* Repairs to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

* Supply of hydraulic and pneumatic components, hoses and fittings.

* Supply of engineering machining services.

* Troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

* Design and manufacture of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and related equipment.

The market sectors that the services of EHS are sold into include automotive component manufacturing and assembly, mining equipment service and manufacture, construction equipment and agriculture.
