Festo recently hosted a series of whisky tastings on a national scale. Each event was backed up by a strong Festo team presence. Representatives of the senior management team from Festo’s head office included Olaf Mayer-Mader (industry segment manager: process automation), Steward Mbele (industry segment specialist: chemicals) and Kershia Beharie (national marketing product manager. Festo partnered with a professional whisky tasting company called The Whisky Rebellion. “The tastings were a fun and unique way of reaching our client base in a direct one-on-one fashion while simultaneously providing them with valuable information on process automation and our offerings in that field,” said Steward Mbele.
In addition to the actual whisky tasting, Festo gave a short presentation on its process automation offering and showcased a number of physical products and displays. These included the VOFC/VOFD range of solenoid valves, which are ideal for installation outdoors and in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres; the SRBC /SRBE/SRBG sensor boxes for quarter-turn actuators; the weatherproof SBRC – a cost-optimised, high-performance and reliable series with many switch variants; and the DFPD – a new benchmark for quarter-turn actuators. On the control side, Festo displayed the complete, comprehensive CPX-P PLC which supports intrinsically safe (IS) applications. As a result engineers can wire IS field devices directly onto input/output cards without the use of barriers. “Over and above providing a product, we truly believe in building relationships with our customers. This event allowed us to do just that,” concluded Mbele.
