As I sit down to pen my thoughts for this edition, I realise that we are 26 days away from our seventh democratic elections. South Africans will be making their mark and hoping for a reduction in unemployment, a stable electricity supply, and growth in our GDP, amongst others.
The Braintrust at SAFPA is continually debating ideas to increase our value to our members. In light of this we have a busy few months ahead of us.
Technical talks
There will be a virtual technical meeting on 13 June 2024. The topic will be ‘The National Apprentice and Artisan Development Strategy for 2030’ and it will be presented by Manie Stoltz of EWC TVET College.
There will be another virtual technical meeting on 5 July 2024. The topic is still being finalised, but it will cover pressure vessels. The presenter will be Paolo Pereira.
Social events
The highly popular annual Mountain Bike Ride will be held on 7 June 2024 at the Germiston Golf Club Track.
Another very popular event is the annual Golf Day, and this will be held on 24 August 2024 at the Germiston golf course.
Equally popular is our soccer event. This will be held in October, with the date still to be confirmed.
