I’m pretty sure the industry is relieved that the Covid debacle is just about over and that the national metal industry wage strike has eventually been concluded. These have severely affected the entire industry in one form or another. With the easing of the Covid restrictions to level 1, the SAFPA council is frantically trying to put together a social event for all associated companies and members before the well-earned festive break. We are in the final throes of organising a cycle ride for all to enjoy on 26 November at the ERPM Golf Club. The layout of this course is perfect for all levels of cyclists to participate, while enjoying the face-to-face banter during and after the cycling.
Thanks to online technology, SAFPA has been able to host a number of technical meetings over the past few months. These have been well attended via Teams meetings and great feedback has also been received. A huge thank you to all parties for putting these technical discussions together. Although difficult at times, the SAFPA council will continue to put forward interesting subject matter.
Recently the SAPFA council members held a strategy meeting, looking for new ideas that can be put forward to the industry. SAFPA has always had a significant vested interest in education and shall continue to do so. Education is an extremely important subject that needs to be continuously addressed in a developing country like ours. The emphasis on education within SAFPA, due to the constantly changing governing educational bodies, is of utmost importance and we continue to build relationships with training bodies to assist us in reaching these goals. Any future developments will be communicated to SAFPA members.
SAFPA is also involved in other projects, such as the relevant standards within our specific industry. We keep abreast of international fluid power trends through our relationship with international fluid power associations such as the BFPA. We are currently looking at putting together an updated list of standards specifically related to the fluid power industry. Further information will be given once this project is about to be completed.
Best wishes to all.
