ECC 2017: Transformation and innovation
3rd Quarter 2017
News & events
The Engineering Community Conference (ECC) is an annual event hosted by technology company Esteq. The goal is to provide engineering teams from all industries the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on the use of technology to develop better products and systems. Transformation and innovation cannot happen effectively without the support of digital transformation. This was evident in the case studies presented at this year’s conference showing the maturing use of technology to drive business change.
This year’s event started with two inspiring keynote speakers, rocket scientist Siyabulela Xuza and Attie Jonker from Jonker Sailplanes, who shared their journeys and successes achieved by putting passion and design technology at the centre of their processes. The conference then divided into different tracks focusing on different applications of technology. These included digital manufacturing, engineering development, additive manufacturing, engineering simulation and test and measurement – all in support of transforming to a digital enterprise. Attendees could also network and interact with exhibitors like Jonker Sailplanes, NWU solar car, Pyga Industries and Siemens that were showcasing applications of current technologies. The synergy between the various focus areas was apparent, providing opportunities to accelerate time to market while continuously improving product performance, reliability and safety.
ECC 2018 will take place on 14 June 2018 and will aim to provide more exhibitors, more industry-focused tracks and more industry solutions. The goal will be to become more than an annual event by building a community that can interact and connect on an ongoing basis.
