As part of the company’s commitment to education and social upliftment, Hytec has partnered with the Mandela Libraries Project for the fourth time to supply a fully stocked and containerised library for the Marikana Primary School in the North West province. In addition to sponsoring the fully contained structure, Hytec’s R198 000 donation covered the shelving, security structures, air conditioning as well as a variety of educational and entertaining books and comics.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, regional manager, Ralph Palphramand, said that education is a key pillar for success in Africa. “Hytec is extremely proud to sponsor this library, which will encourage reading and inspire the minds of the 1200 scholars at the Marikana Primary School,” he added.
The library brings much-needed hope, educational support and social upliftment to the tragedy-stricken North West mining town. In addition to Hytec, this year’s Mandela Libraries Project was sponsored by Participate for Good, Soul City Institute for Social Justice, Rotary Club of South Africa and Quali-Naledi book publishers. Hytec is committed to uplifting the communities in which it operates and has previously co-sponsored similar libraries for Crown Mines Primary School (Johannesburg), Qoyintaba Primary School (KwaZulu-Natal) and Mantshatlala Intermediate School (Free State), as part of the Mandela Libraries Project.
