New training rig for active learning

2nd Quarter 2016 News & events

Hydraulic Training & Consultants and The Fluid Power Group of Companies have collaborated on the design and manufacture of a dual-sided training rig for apprentices in the mining industry to bring them an active learning experience. A dual-sided training rig has a number of advantages: it allows separate training circuits to be assembled and tested independently; it is compact; it requires minimum space; and it is more cost-effective than a single unit. Each side has its own pump and emergency stop which shuts down both pumps. The modular construction allows for future modifications and additions to the rig.

Operating and safety instructions and numerous circuits are provided that can be assembled using hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic motors, directional controls, pressure controls, flow controls, pilot operated check valves, accumulators and other circuit components.

The components are standard manifold mounted industrial units that conform to ISO 4401/CETOP R35H size 3 (NFPA D01/DIN 24340 (NG6). The units are stacked onto manifolds and clip onto the work panel, enabling interconnection of the components by means of quick coupled hose assemblies. The manifolds are standard units, allowing future additions to the range of components being used on the rig and component assemblies to be changed. Some line mounted components can also be used. Components are offered with the option of manual, electrical and proportional operation. The modular NG6 stacking system assemblies are standard components used in fluid power applications and are easy to use and leak-free. They provide experience in applying real-time components that are used in industrial, mining and mobile applications. Units can also be manufactured to specific customer requirements.
