Schneider Electric has signed partnership agreements for the establishment of four additional training centres. These are in collaboration with the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, College of Cape Town for TVET, University of Johannesburg and Sedibeng TVET College, together with the Schneider Electric Foundation and the French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research.
Seen at the signing ceremony are dignitaries and senior Schneider Electric managers who participated in the initiative.
The new partnerships will see the establishment of training centres with a primary focus on the training of future artisans, electricians and technicians in the field of energy. Each centre will feature state-of-the-art Schneider Electric equipment. Through intensive vocational training, junior and senior technicians in the relevant disciplines will be taught innovative technologies and internationally recognised competitive learning programmes.
At the signature ceremony held at the Schneider Electric Midrand Campus, Eric Leger, country president of Schneider Electric Southern Africa, said that these agreements formed part of the company’s vision to accelerate vocational training in the field of energy across the country for previously disadvantaged students.
Among the distinguished signatories who participated in the signing ceremony were the South African Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mduduzi Manana; the French Ambassador to South Africa, Her Excellency Elizabeth Barbier; and the Executive Director for European and International Relations and Cooperation, French Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Research, Marianne de Brunhoff.
