Service technicians are often out in the field for extended periods of time, making it difficult for them to keep abreast of new developments and technologies. Hytec can solve this problem through Bosch Rexroth’s eLearning programme.
“Today independent learning through the Internet is an integral part of knowledge transfer and the learning experience. It affords freedom of time and location, as well as allowing for unlimited repeatability, individual speed of learning and interactive learning concepts,” explains Allen van Gent, group training manager for Hytec.
The eLearning programme presents and distributes materials and electronic support for interpersonal communications via a variety of electronic and digital media. The content, available on the teaching server for the duration of the licence period, is subdivided into a number of units that registered learners can work through. The only prerequisite is a computer or mobile device with Internet access, as well as an e-mail address for log-in purposes.
The programmes offered through eLearning are aimed at mechanical artisans, machine operators, maintenance, assembly and installation staff, and planning and design engineers. They teach the basics in hydraulics, linear technology and pneumatics. Learning content also includes aspects such as hydraulic systems and properties; hydraulic symbols; hydraulic fluids; basic physical principles of pneumatics; compressed air networks and maintenance; directional flow control; pressure regulating and isolating valves; basic pneumatic circuitry; and the construction, function and application of profiled rail systems, linear bushings and bearings, and linear screw drives.
“Although eLearning cannot fully replace hands-on experience, it does cover an integral part of theoretical training and reduces the number of days needed for face-to-face instruction,” notes Van Gent. After successful completion, students are awarded a personal electronic certificate which authorises them to participate in further training.
