Positive control adds functionality and saves energy.

The M9-25 control block with positive control ensures a high level of efficiency, functionality, and low energy consumption. Rexroth has developed these multicircuit open centre systems to create the positive control technology for excavators in the power category 20 to 32 tons.
The compact design of the monoblock and the use of positive control technology result in energy conservation during operation of standard excavators of class over 20 tons. The pipework required by excavator manufacturers is also reduced considerably. When compared to negative control technology, the M9 control enables faster response dynamics, greater stability, improved functionality, and better control.
Simultaneous movements are often carried out during excavator operation. The circuitry used in the M9-25 allows each of the main actuators to be supplied by a separate pump. Dividing the pump circuits makes it possible to operate different actuators with different pressures quickly and while also saving energy even if movements overlap. Combining the pump circuits, on the other hand, ensures that maximum speeds can be achieved with the excavator. The new positive control technology also features minimised loss associated with flow circulation in the neutral position and the added advantage that control loss does not occur when the pump comes on stoke.
The M9 is designed as a compact monoblock which enables simple and inexpensive plumbing with low delta-p-values even when installation space is limited. All consumer connections for the jib, strut, shovel, slewing gear and suspension are at the front. An additional function that can be used to connect a hydraulic hammer for example, is already integrated in the control block and is available to users as standard. Pump, tank and cooler connections are located on the back of the block.
Manufacturers can expand the positive control system and the M9 control block according to market requirements. Electronic RC controls and the BODAS modular system from Rexroth can be used to design an extensive pump and valve management system using either control pressure sensors or the electric proportional pressure reduction valves that can be integrated in the M9. This allows the gradual introduction of fully electro-hydraulic excavator control without requiring major design changes.
