Hydromobile boosts technical department

Second Quarter 2007 News & events

‘Making it easier for the customer’ was Hydromobile’s founding philosophy and this attitude remains as the basis of all that the company does today.

In 1991 Hydromobile was formed as an alternative to the 'normal' suppliers of the day, the idea was that by supplying quality components at reasonable prices, and by having stock available, it would be possible to survive and prosper in the industry. The company started out importing hydraulic filters, mono block valves, and miniature power packs.

From these humble beginnings Hydromobile has become a market leader in the supply of hydraulic components.

Turnkey services

System design and manufacture was later added to its portfolio to improve service levels to industry. Consequently, many turnkey projects, which cover the gamut from inception and design through to completion and system commissioning, have been successfully completed. Over the years these projects have grown in size from project to project.

Building up the technical department

To enhance Hydromobile's technical department various staff members have been employed. Gideon Klopper has been appointed as workshop manager, John McGloin as quality controller and a draughting department has been formed. In the field, Robert Proudfoot is responsible for installing and commissioning the many projects that Hydromobile tackles.

Brands

Hydromobile prides itself in promoting well-known hydraulic brands. These brands have been tried and tested over the last 15 years. Hydromobile is sole importer of the Vivoil range of gear pumps. These gear pumps are available from group 1 to group 3. The company continues to be a high volume supplier of Hystar solenoid valves, Dinoil hand control valves, Hydr-App AC and DC power packs. A new range of reservoir accessories, filters, bell housings and drive couplings has been added to Hydromobile's already large product range.

Power packs

In 1995, Hydromobile opened a workshop to build and produce hydraulic power packs. Up until this time the company had been supplying many miniature power packs to the lifting industry, and once again it was seen that customers were begging for faster quotation times on hydraulic systems, and quicker turnaround times on the manufacture of power packs.

Cylinders

Hydrocylinder was started as a cylinder manufacturing operation to complement Hydromobile's project department. All cylinders are manufactured to stringent quality control standards. Hydrocylinder imports ready-machined components, such as glands, pistons, end-caps, ports, Nylok nuts and seal kits from Contarini in Italy. Having a stockholding of standard cylinder components ensures quick turn-around times and spare-part availability.

Agricultural cylinders

The Harvester range of agricultural cylinders was launched a year ago. These cylinders can replace a standard tie-rod cylinder without requiring any changes to be made. They were designed to offer the market a high quality agricultural cylinder that is of welded construction instead of bolted together. The seal kit comprises piston seal as 5-piece stretch-on DAS seal kit instead of an O-ring, a polyurethane gland seal, and butyl O-rings. These cylinders are very price-competitive and have a longer working life than standard tie-rod cylinders.

Industry education

To educate users in the hydraulic field, three times a year Hydromobile offers a three-day hydraulic course. This course is designed to give students a better understanding of products available in the industry and knowledge of their working principles and operation.

The future

Although the future always remains unpredictable, Hydromobile strives to be ahead of the game and continues to provide its customers with a high level of service based on its founding philosophy.
