CHI offers comprehensive range of circuit protection devices in SA

First Quarter 2007 Other technologies

The restructured division of Alstom Electrical, CHI Control Components, is now focused on supplying low voltage components directly to OEMs and panelbuilders. CHI, a multibranded component supplier, has always followed a policy of 'application perfect product selection' sourcing the best brands from around the world for its customers.

CHI has just released an expansion interface for use with its popular Aucom CSXi Series of compact soft starters. The Pump Application Interface has been developed in response to demand for more input and output functionality, particularly in pumping situations.

The interface has three digital inputs which can be directly connected to external inputs such as pressure switches, flow switches, limit switches or PLC outputs, and one PT100 input which can be directly connected to a temperature sensor. The PT100 temperature trip point is selectable and the pressure and low water inputs offer a configurable trip delay, allowing precise control of the soft starter in response to a wide variety of operating conditions. When an input activates, the soft starter stops the motor and signals a trip, allowing straightforward monitoring via a PLC or serial communication network.

The Pump Application Interface has been designed for pumping applications but can be used without modification on any application where greater control and feedback are required. Easy to install and configure, the interface is housed in a compact casing which clips directly onto the side of CSXi soft starters. The interface is powered through the soft starter's serial port and no special tools or additional software is required for installation.

CHI Control Component's range of products is readily available throughout sub-Saharan Africa through a network of branches and over 40 distributors. CHI Control Components has a nationwide service and support footprint as well as offering support into sub-Saharan Africa. Its 24/7/365 service centres are manned by highly experienced service engineers.
