Remote display unit for motor protection relays
Third Quarter 2006
Other technologies
The MA RDU 216 remote display unit from NewElec, is a panel-mounted keypad entry display unit, which can be used as a handheld programming and display unit for the NewElec MA range of motor protection relays.
The display unit permits the user to set all protection parameters and monitor the actual values while the motor is in operation. It also allows the user to view the fault alarms and realtime clock logged faults.
The unit requires a dongel connected in line with the serial communication cable in order to alter any settings, eliminating unauthorised alterations. Read only functions are tolerated by the device if the dongel is not available.
All functions are accessible via a membrane keypad, while the 2 x 16 backlit LCD display is used to indicate the menu-driven requested values. It is also used to prompt the operator as to which key to press in the event of a multiple keystroke sequence.
The MA RDU 216 accommodates up to eight memory slots that are useful for storing information, even when the auxiliary power supply is removed, to allow the setting parameters to be downloaded to the appropriate MA motor protection relay.
