International materials handling expert, Linde of Germany, represented by sole South African agent Ernest Lowe, has developed the SPU silencer. This silencer significantly reduces noise emission from open loop hydraulic regulating pumps without affecting power loss.
Noise emission is now regarded as a major deciding feature when selecting modern construction machinery. Apart from the diesel engine itself, the main source of noise tends to be the open-loop hydraulic regulating pump. The Linde SPU silencer is placed next to the timing mechanism of the regulating pump, reducing flow and pressure pulsations by up to 70%. As noise is controlled at the point of origin, there is appreciably quieter operation of the overall system with noise levels reduced at all running speeds, both in the cab and in the surrounding area. Noise stress on construction personnel and the environment is lessened and industry is spared the considerable cost of future noise-reduction measures.
Further advantages of the SPU silencer are:
* No decrease in efficiency.
* Simple, maintenance-free design.
* Acceptable weight and volume increases.
* Self-compensating, no adjustment necessary.
The SPU silencer is available for every pump size within the Linde HPR series.
