Hydromobile has experienced explosive growth since 1991. Having made its début as a small importer of hydraulic filters, mono block valves and miniature power packs, the company today is a major importer and exporter of a wide range of high quality hydraulic systems, pumps and valves, with distributors throughout southern Africa. Hydromobile also designs, manufactures and installs turnkey hydraulic systems for a variety of applications. This success is the result of the quality of its products and the exceptional service delivered by the experienced Hydromobile team.
One of Hydromobile’s flagship products is its range of patented electro hydraulic actuators, which were developed in response to the market’s need for customised hydraulic systems. Incorporating the hydraulic cylinder as an integral unit with the power pack, the unique manifold system allows valves to be surface mounted without the need for inline valves or pumps, thus reducing the number of pipes and fittings required. It was developed for use in environments where it is not practical to have a freestanding power pack. Instead of a central power pack system with numerous cylinders, there is an integral system at each operation. The advantage is that problem areas can be isolated and the module removed while other functions continue, thereby keeping downtime to a minimum. This innovation has been applied throughout the mining industry in underground shutes, loading boxes and measuring boxes, as well as on water plants and dams.
The actuators have a wide range of features, allowing Hydromobile to adapt each one to the specific requirements of the customer. They are available in cast iron or aluminium frames, and are spark and flame proof. They are also IP65 rated, so are protected against dust and water jets. A cooling tube is included to facilitate cooling, while the sealing design is compatible with today’s stringent mining and industrial regulations. The cylinder rods are a hard chromed EN8 material and the robust cylinder glands are manufactured from cast iron to ensure durability. The cylinder barrel is a cold drawn, seamless, honed tube. All actuators are subject to a 100% pressure test and quality inspection before delivery.
The single or double acting units can be designed for normal open or closed operations, position operations or PLC operations. They can be locked in any position and there is an emergency closing operation available on request. Pressure capabilities range from 50 to 250 bar and flow capabilities from 1,6 up to 30 litres a minute. The control circuit is available as 12/24/110/220 V DC and 110/220 V AC. Various stroke lengths, bore diameters and rod diameters can be supplied for varying applications. Electric motor forward/reverse action is available if required and linear positioning transducers are also an option.
After consultation with the customer, Hydromobile’s highly qualified technical team will tailor each actuator to their specific needs. Input is typically based on the force to be moved, the speed at which the force must be moved, the length of stroke, whether manual or automatic control is required, the appropriate voltage for electric motor and control circuit, and whether horizontal or vertical mounting is preferred.
Hydromobile is constantly investigating new market opportunities that will benefit its customers and makes a point of sourcing hydraulic products that are suited to the South African environment. Many internationally respected hydraulic component companies have committed to Hydromobile as their South African distributor. These include Akon, Aron, Dinoil, Flucom, Hydr-app, Hydro Control, Hystar, Mintor, MTC, SAIP, Vivoil and Zhenjiang. The product range is continuously updated in line with the needs of the market.
Hydromobile also offers comprehensive hydraulics training courses. These provide an excellent understanding of hydraulic systems, also covering the design of an hydraulic circuit and the functionality of valves, pumps and motors. The courses are run throughout the year at the Hydromobile training facility in Spartan, Kempton Park, which is in the final stages of a major upgrade.
With this kind of versatility, Hydromobile is able to service a wide variety of industries. The company has an established footprint in the mining, transport, agriculture, industrial and railways industries, with extensive repeat business being the proof of its commitment to customer driven service. Personalised customer relationships, unequivocal technical support and extensive stockholding of superior hydraulic components differentiate Hydromobile in the marketplace.
