Hydac’s OXiStop continuously extracts air and water from a hydraulic system, resulting in extended fluid life and a drastic reduction in the volume of oil required for the system. A hydraulically driven degassing and dewatering unit is integrated with the hydraulic tank, reducing the oxygen content by 80%. A membrane prevents direct contact with the ambient air, keeping the fluid ‘vacuum packed’ and allowing the OXiStop to be installed in extremely dusty or humid environments as the closed system prevents the ingression of solid, liquid or gaseous contaminants.
With the OXiStop a hydraulic tank can be designed for the differential operating volume actually needed and oil volume is typically reduced by a factor of 10. In addition the pump flow rate is no longer important for the tank design. Another advantage is that noise caused by cavitation is greatly reduced; and the smaller OXiStop system has a much better energy efficiency than a larger traditional hydraulic system. It also contributes to savings in oil, installation and commissioning costs.
Hydac offers three standard sizes for differential operating volumes up to 70 litres. Customer-specific solutions can also be designed. In addition the OXiStop can be equipped with an optional return line filter, a breather filter and a water/oil cooler, as well as the AS AquaSensor and the CS ContaminationSensor.
