New industry and technology fair
4th Quarter 2012
News & events
The South African Industry and Technology Fair (INDUTEC) is a European-style trade event for African industrialists and consists of 10 industry focus sectors targeting different areas. Three of these have attracted the attention and support of Hannover Fairs International, one of Germany’s largest trade fair organisers. Managed by Exhibition Management Services (EMS), this umbrella event will take place from 14 to 16 May 2013 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
The 10 sectors to be profiled at INDUTEC 2013 are Pumps, Valves and Pipes Africa; Watertec Africa; Petro.t.ex Africa; Intermac Africa; Manutec Africa; Smart Automation Africa; Process Automation Exhibition; Afriplast Expo; Energex Africa; Industrial GreenTec Africa; and Empowertec Africa.
“We have proved that trade fairs in South Africa can benefit from the critical mass and synergy generated by running together,” said John Thomson, managing director of EMS. “INDUTEC offers local and international suppliers a conduit into the growing African manufacturing and engineering sectors, whose output over the last 10 years has doubled.”
INDUTEC 2013 enjoys support from numerous related trade organisations and associations. Many of these will be hosting conferences, seminars and workshops exploring policy issues, new technologies and developments affecting industry sectors. It will be boosted by government initiatives such as the new R5,75 billion Manufacturing Competitive Enhancement Programme and the recently announced National Development Plan (NDP), which aims to improve manufacturing capability across all industrial and manufacturing sectors. “One of the NDP’s targets is to increase exports and expand manufacturing and INDUTEC provides an excellent platform to bridge the gap between policy and implementation of the NDP,” concluded Thomson.
