Kübler has expanded its draw wire series with versions that measure from 0,25 m to 40 m. This system is designed to work with sensors and encoders with analog outputs, such as 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA, and with potentiometers. It also works with incremental (push-pull and RS422), absolute (SSI and BISS) and fieldbus (CANopen, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet and EtherCat) interfaces.
At the core of a draw wire device is a drum mounted on bearings onto which a wire is wound. The winding takes place via using a constant force spring which results in a traverse speed of up to 10 m/s and acceleration of up to 140 m/s². A service life as long as 2 million complete cycles can be achieved with draw wire encoders.
The robust draw wire system is constructed with an aluminium housing anodised with titanium, and the stainless steel wire has a diameter of 0,5 mm. Thanks to a diamond polished ceramic guide, the wire experiences no wear. The temperature range of -20°C to 85°C, as well as an optional IP67 protection rating, permit use in difficult environmental conditions. The system has a linearity of up to 0,05% and can be supplied with the relevant calibration certificate.

To use AI responsibly and effectively, you need at least a basic understanding of how they work and where they can fail. Generative AI then becomes a powerful assistant; without it, you are effectively ‘prompting and praying’, exposing yourself to errors and professional embarrassment.
