The SI-HG63 Series of hinge safety interlock switches from Banner Engineering offer improved protection against defeat over actuator-style safety switches and also overcome downtime associated with misalignment difficulties which are often experienced with keyed-actuator style safety switches.
The hinge switches have been designed to be used in place of standard hinges on swinging guards, gates or doors for safeguarding of hazards. They offer two normally closed safety contacts and one normally open auxiliary contact. When the hinge switch is activated, the normally closed safety contacts are forced open by a non-resilient mechanical means (not reliant on springs), interrupting the electrical circuit and sending a stop signal to the machine control. The safety switching point is easily adjustable throughout the hinge's full 0-270° range of motion.
To withstand harsh plant environments each safety switch body is integrated into a robust PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) housing and incorporates a stainless steel hinge. The hinge switches are rated IEC IP67 and each hinge can support an axial and radial load of approximately 120 kg.
A range of hinge configurations is available and a non-switching blank hinge option is also available.
