Energy saving rotary vane compressor
Third Quarter 2005
Hydraulic systems & components
Arthur Rushmer Engineering is offering the new Optima VSD rotary vane compressor, which the company believes will take the industry into a new dimension in energy saving abilities. Inverter drive technology is now available to the general industry at affordable cost, primarily due to the benefit of local assembly and high local content models.
Units available will be fitted with the Mattei rotary vane compressors and will range from 11 kW to 90 kW, constituting seven models. An example of performance figures is the 60 kW model, which delivers from 4,18 m³/minute at 900 rpm to 11,48 m³/minute at a top speed of 1800 rpm. It produces 700 kPa, also adjustable to 1 MPa, with a sound level of 68 dB(a), as per PN8NTC2:3, average value from a distance of 1 m, at maximum performance output.
The ARE-VSD compressor system, managed by the Mattei Maestro on board microprocessor (incorporating remote monitoring abilities), assures the highest energy saving, across the motor's speed range, with energy consumption said to be lower than any other competitors offering rotary compressors in the category, up to 90 kW.
The rotary vane concept is very reliable and has proved in the field, to give many trouble free operating hours of continuous hard operation, as long as the compressor is maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, an example being the extra long life of the Mattei air/oil separator elements, guaranteed for up to 10 000 hours.
