PneuDrive Challenge, a student competition to showcase mechatronic innovation using SEW-Eurodrive and Festo products, has posted information about the PneuDrive Challenge 2010 competition on its new website at
www.pneudrive.co.za.
The website contains important information about this year’s competition, the theme of which is appropriately ‘Motion in sport’.
The 2010 competition is open to teams of three or four third or fourth year engineering students who are enrolled in the faculties of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering or mechatronics at South African universities.
Bonus points will be awarded for groups who correctly use the SEW Movitrans and/or the Festo Servo Pneumatic Rotary Positioning unit (DSMI) in conjunction with the Festo CMPX controller.
The new website also contains detailed information about the 2009 competition including a summary of each submission received. The free web coverage for every PneuDrive Challenge entrant is expected to result in increased traffic to the competing universities’ websites and exposure for the team members, enhancing future employment prospects.
According to Rene Rose, SEW-Eurodrive, “We feel that the new website concept is an excellent way of interacting with participating universities and students and will also give the competition wider recognition and status. It provides a platform where all the information is kept in a central place and any questions about the competition could be answered here.”
